Overview
Q-Park Amsterdam is one of the Netherlands’ largest and most complex inner-city parking facilities: multi-level, high turnover, and high-value real estate where every empty bay represents lost revenue and every minute of circling frustrates drivers. This project equips the facility with an end-to-end smart parking guidance system that detects occupancy in real time and steers drivers to a free space in the shortest possible route.
Scope
- Spot detection — Per-bay sensors (camera-based detection) report occupancy in real time across every level, feeding a live availability of the entire structure.
- Multi-level wayfinding — Dynamic signage at entries, ramps, and decision points shows free-space counts per level and zone, routing drivers upward or across the facility before congestion builds, balancing load between levels.
- LED guidance — Bay-level indicator LEDs (e.g. green = free, red = occupied, blue = disabled, amber = reserved/EV) let drivers spot an open space at a glance from the lane, cutting search time dramatically.
- Find-my-car — Drivers locate their vehicle on return via license-plate lookup at a kiosk, with walking directions back to the bay: essential in a layout this large and disorienting.
