Interparking JBZ parking guidance

Improving traffic flow for Hospital parking Interparking Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis

Overview
The Jeroen Bosch Hospital in ‘s-Hertogenbosch handles a constant, time-sensitive flow of patients, visitors, and staff, many arriving stressed, unfamiliar with the site, and in a hurry. For Interparking, smooth traffic flow isn’t just convenience; it directly affects patient punctuality, emergency access, and the hospital’s reputation. This project deploys a parking guidance system that keeps vehicles moving, prevents queue build-up at peak hours, and routes drivers to available capacity with minimal searching.

Scope

  • Zone detection — Zone-level counting monitors occupancy across each parking area and level in real time, giving an accurate live picture of where capacity remains without the cost of per-bay hardware.
  • Dynamic signage — Variable-message signs at the entrance and key decision points display free-space counts per zone, directing drivers straight to available areas and away from full sections, smoothing internal traffic flow and eliminating unnecessary circulation.
  • ANPR (license-plate recognition) — Automatic plate recognition enables autocorrecting zone detection.

Value
Faster, calmer entry and exit; shorter queues at peak times and reduced congestion.
