Smart Bicycle Parking Gare du Nord

Smart Bicycle Parking Gare du Nord, Paris

Overview
Gare du Nord is Europe’s busiest railway station, and the cycling demand around it is intense thousands of commuters and travellers seeking a secure, findable spot for their bikes every day. At this scale, riders waste time hunting for free spaces and racks clog up with long-abandoned bicycles. This project delivers a smart bicycle parking system that guides cyclists straight to vacant spaces and gives the operator the tools to keep the facility orderly, available, and well-used.

Scope

  • Outdoor spot detection — Weatherproof per-spot sensors monitor occupancy across the facility in real time, providing an accurate live map of which bicycle spaces are free and which are taken, in all outdoor conditions.
  • Wayfinding to vacant spaces — Dynamic signage and indicators route cyclists directly to available spots, removing the search and easing flow through the parking even at peak commuter times.
  • Abandoned-bicycle management — Long-term occupancy data flags bicycles that have remained in place beyond a set threshold, letting the operator identify, tag, and clear abandoned bikes — recovering capacity that would otherwise be lost.

Products
Outdoor spot detection, wayfinding, and Park Cloud management software: combining live occupancy, guidance, and back-office oversight in one platform.

Value
A faster, frictionless experience for cyclists through real-time guidance to free spaces, and powerful parking management for the operator: live utilization insight, automated detection of abandoned bicycles, and the data to keep a high-demand facility efficient and available.
